Capstan size
I have a large number of reel-to-reel tapes left by my father- in-law. He recorded them at 1 7/8 (i think that's correct, lowest speed possible). Unfortunately, my tape deck, pioneer rt-909, has only 9.5 as the lowest speed. Is it possible to change the capstan (provided i could find one) to be able to play these tapes?

I found a new restoration suite
It is from ACON Digital and more info can be found here https://acondigital.com/products/restoration-suite/
It works GREAT and is reasonably priced. I just thought others would like to know about it. FWIW

Help with early 1990's reel-Tape Audio Restoration (Reverb) of Vocal Speech with Izotope or AA
I've cleaned up hundreds of hours of tape recordings, admittedly the easy stuff like humm, clicks, airplanes overhead, etc. So I'm still a totally nube, but I don't even know exactly what it's called when it's like the microphone is too close to their mouth and there is a reverb harshness to each word.
audio restoration help cleaning the file of noise
Hey guys,
I've got a request, but I'm not sure if these are the right forums to come asking. If they aren't, please point me in the right direction, because Google did not.
There is a particular audio file I have of an old song that has some damage. It's mainly that annoying crisping sound throughout the song, but it really bothers me because it's such a beautiful song.
I need some help! (Mastering/Audio Restoration)
Hey everyone, nice forums, glad to be here. I apologize for the somewhat long post, but I'd really appreciate some help.
Restoration/Denoise
Hi folks,
I apologize if I'm posting at the wrong place, I wasn't sure if this should go to Mastering forum or here, simply because the music that I'm interested to work on is mostly Classical.

Waves Restoration and forensic cleanup
Anyone using Waves Restoration for forensic work? I really dig it for light cleanup in mastering, but sometimes I feel like I'm chasing my tail when it comes to heavy cleanup of background noise on audio evidence tapes, etc. Sometimes it's almost to the point that I feel like I'm making it worse.

Algorithmix or CEDAR restoration (NOT...)
Hey guys!
Is anyone here interested in either of these wonderful tools (specifically their spectral editors)?
Does anyone want to know how to get these without spending the $3000 or more but still get a LEGAL solution?
Who thinks the Adobe Audition version sucks?
