Interfacing Ambient Recording ACN-CL to MOTU DTP

Video has an Ambient Recording ACN-CL (which outputs carry timecode and genlock) and can provide me with output from the Ambient on a BNC cable.

I have a MOTU DTP, which has a BNC video input that can genlock to video and to VITC.

Am I correct in understanding that I can then take the DTP SMPTE output (which is on TRS) and record that on an audio track, with video being able to use that audio track in post to sync recorded audio to the recorded video?

My interface is an RME UFX which has no timecode capabilities. hence the desire to record time code to an audio track (like in the old tape days).

Thanks.

Run & Gun audio in the recording studio

Run & Gun audio when making video is very different than working in a recording studio

Its been way too long since I've been here.  The new forum looks great.  I have settled in to my new business of creating videos for clients and my business needs to become a client as well:) So I've started a youtube channel about all nerd things video👍

The first video I put out is here.  I'd love to hear what others are doing to get good audio when making videos.  It is such a different world than the recording studio.

My home studio audio/video production

I've just finished and uploaded the video of the penultimate song and video from my upcoming album. This track has been in the works for the past three to four months. In that time I've survived getting the dreaded Covid amongst other things.

The track is in two parts and I used alternate acoustic guitar tunings as an experiment. My good friend Mark Beling (also a guitarist) caught Covid at the same time as I did and I decided that when we get through the recovery I'd invite him to contribute to the song.

I also had my usual drummer (Larry Rose) and Hammond/piano player (Dave Sharp) play on the track.

I used a some stock video and video that I filmed to accompany the audio which I think worked out quite nicely.

The song (both parts) runs for about ten minutes, so definitely not for those who love three and a half minute songs. The audio was tracked and mixed in Cakewalk with the final mastering done in Adobe Audition. The video was produced in Adobe After Effects and Magix Vegas.

I hope that you enjoy this track as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Audio Video help for online tutorials

I'm planning to build a tutorial section of my painting services and would sure value advice on what I need to get started.
If I could get anywhere near the quality of @pcrecord (Marco you do such a great job on your tutorials) or anyone that can help.

  • What are my mic and video camera choices?
  • How would you control the loud background for example: vacuum sanders or spraying while I am describing what I'm doing in a loud shop?
I'm sure I will have many more questions. Thanks!
