bass drum mic,s - Which one is the best
Looking for the best Bass drum mic. -I have used Audix D6 - The AKG D112 and Sure Beta 52A - But I'm sure there's something a little cleaner out there. Someone said the Electro-Voice Re20 is what you see Bonham using even though I think its more of a vocal mic. Electro-Voice also has a Bass drum mic a N/D868 that I have never tried. Who out there has the real skinny. dirtyktm

help with bass drum micing
i'm finding that i'm having some trouble getting the bass drum to sound up front in the mix. i'm using a D112 about an inch away from the head aimed directly at the beater with the front head off and a blanket covering the bass drum. Why does it sound like i have reverb on the bass drum? thanks for your time.

Shure PG52?
I'm looking to purchase a bass drum mic in the very near future. I've been considering the Shure PG52 since I can get one new for $85 and was wondering how it compares to the mics that are about $100 more such as Beta 52, D112, 602, or anything else. I'm not looking for a professional recording, I just want something decent.
TIA,
Justin

Calfskin head bass drum mic?
I need a mic appropriate for a calfskin bass drum, 18 inch. Woefully short on dynamic mics. How do these sound compared to a condenser that can handle the spl? KM184 sounds great until it *clips*. Currently 2 inches above the beater. Keep in mind that the high-endsound of calfskin is much more subtle than the slapthwack of plastic heads. Both heads will be intact. Good mics for the job?
