How do you know if the bass is there or not?
When using reference monitors that the FR does not reach s certain low freq? Should I just check on a Spectrum analasis level and make sure theres a slight/smooth roll off in the lower frequencies or should I just make sure the FR is flat all the way?

I'm just wondering peoples techniques here. i have a recording coming up soon and would like to hear your ideas.

I read somewhere that recording directly into the mixer is better and more useful than Micing instruments. So, with that in mind, I tried a direct recording of a bass line onto my DAW which is Sonar 2.2 and I wasn't very impressed with the amount of detail it picked up. For instance, all the little clicks and pops from the strings hitting the frets and pickups.

Understanding this to be an overly broad question,what is the best method to get top quality bass and drum samples?

Is it the sampler route,the soundfont route,the drum machine route,or someting else entirely?

What are the most common hardware devices like keyboards,like kurzweill,emu etc. .What are the various pros and cons in going that route?

Hey all, I need a bit of advice on a song I'm about to master. I'm in the middle of mixing and mastering three songs - then judging how it all comes out and what mistakes I may have made. This is in prep for 'real' recordings later.

after I mix then bounce my songs they always comes out to bassey.I'm using events ps5 to monitor.

Hi! I think the Peavey Spectrum bass was released around 1993. Have you guys listend or play with it?
Is it something like the sounds of a Roland TB101/303, Moog?

I have just found one lost here in Brazil for U$275, far from me, just can not test it.

I've recorded with several bands, using many methods. The band I am with now is hardcore/melodic trash style music and i use a Custom F Bass 5 stringer. My rig is an Ampeg SVT PRO 4 which has been nothing but amazing on every recording. Ampeg 810E Behringercompressor just with clight compression as to not eat the basses tone.
