BIG PROBLEM? or maybe not. .need your help!

I have recorded a whole song on a Digi 001 Pro Tools LE system. I should also mention that this is my FIRST real recording and these recording are being done at my school. I've spent at least 100 or so hours on ONE SONG, but my problem started yesterday. After working all this time, my teacher comes in and says all my levels are to low. My faders are almost cranked to the max.

Small amp big sound

I have heard again and again that you can get a big sound out of a small amp. I don't really understand how this is possible, and was wondering if someone could expain this phenomenon.
I am after a Guns&Roses (Appetite for destruction) kind of sound. Or a Lynyrd Skynyrd (That Smell) sound. Can I get this with a fender champ or little danelectr?

And a BIG negative...chips aren't powerul enough

This is from waves...

"Q: Do Waves plugins need to be updated only to run at higher sample rates?

A: Higher sample rates is the problem, PT HD doubled the sample rate but not the DSP power so any plugin taking more then 50% on your current mix will not work under 96KHZ on the new HD."

So no c4 at 96k folks!

How important is masteirng for the big pop acts?

Forums

Hi,

I would like to get an idea on how much of a difference mastering makes for the big pop acts like B Spears etc.

Some people say that those mixes are already about 99% there and the mastering just adds a bit extra soemthing. Yet a few other people seem to think that mastering makes a huge difference at this stage.

Recording jazz big band live in 8 tracks - HELP!

:w: Tomorrrow night I'll be recording my son's nationally recognized HS jazz big band live in concert. I have 4 large diaphram condensers, 2 electrets, and 2 instrument dynamics. All will be mixed into a digital 8 track. The brass section has 6 sax's (1st row), 5 trombones (2nd), and 5 trumpets (back row). There is an electric bass and guitar, acoustic piano, and drums.
