buffer setting

Hybrid Buffer in Daw

I've noticed several daws are implementing a form of hybrid buffer (reaper, studio one, cubase?, Possibly others) where there is a separate buffer for the audio playback tracks and the tracks record enabled. This allows you to have a low buffer on the record enabled tracks, for low latency, and high buffer on the playback tracks for maximum DSP power.

Just curious if anyone out there is using a daw with hybrid buffer, and how the experience has been.

Brand new KRK Rokits crackling in playback, Logic Pro X

Hi, I tried googling this, but every answer I'm reading is over my head. Buffer Size is something people advise changing. But for reference, I don't know what a buffer is nor do I know how to find my buffer settings. Someone else said to watch your CPU/HD meter, and I again don't know what those are, nor how to change them. Any help would be great, feel free to assume I don't know anything about the technical sides of recording.

Crackling sound during recording

Hello! My first post on the site (been lurking for a while). The community here seems to be very helpful and knowledgeable, so I thought this would be a great place to seek help.

I'm having some sound issues with my home recording. There is some "crackling" and "popping" sounds during the recording of my vocals. I will give you some information and a sound clip to help narrow this issue down.

Here is my sound clip showing the crackle/popping. SOUND TEST HERE (About 7 secs long)

PreSonus 22vsl audiobox crackling and popping with midi

it was always crackling and popping, then i went through PreSonus's optimization for windows 7 page and it seemed to fix the problem, except when i try using midi (my whole reason for buying the product... sigh..)
i thought it was just ableton, so i reinstalled, problem persists, then i tried it with Samplitude... problem seemed ok, but now i realized its still crackling/ popping just isn't as noticeable.

any recommendations?
