I just got my new board! A Soundcraft Spirit Auto made in 1993 and am SO very happy about it, (anyone want to buy a good used Topaz 24/8?).

So, here's my question: the board was made in 1993 and the automation software seems to be obsolute and/or unavailable. The manual states that it can be run by Cubase, JL Cooper stuff, Soundcarft software (mac only) as well as "any sequencer".

I posted this on R.A.P. too but got little response and I kind of have to make a decision quick. So I'm just starting up a tiny studio to do demos, learn, and record my band. I'm using a PC DAW with a Mackie 1604 on which I just fried channels 3 & 4. It would cost about $600 to fix.

Can anyone provide any info on Tweed consoles and whether there was some relation to Neve equipment?

What are the differences between a series II, IIe, III, and Elan? I have heard really good things about Neotek in general, but want a fully balanced board that will be able to be fixed with no shortage of parts. Any other comments on your experiences with them would be helpful also.

After laughing at the lack of space depth dimension and girth from all in computer virtual mixing in a DAW, my partner and I bought a Neotek Elite. We decided that there were some things that we didn't dig on it, and it wasn't in the condition promised and needed a good amount of work.

Anyone know anything about these?

Does anyone have experience with Carvin mixing consoles? A band I work with is looking into a new board and it seems Carvin offers some very nice boards for several hundred $$ less than Mackies / Soundcraft / Alesis etc...

So are you saving money because you are buying direct or is the quality less than ideal? Anyone here know?
