Austin DIY Ribbon kits?
Hi everyone, I'm finally trying to get back in the swing with recording, and would like to try another mic. Right now I only use an SM57 (not very often, truthfully) but mostly my RODE NT2-A, which I am liking the sound on everything I do, acoustic guitar, electric, and vocals.

DIY lettering
Sometimes I build my own stuff. I have been using dry transfer lettering called "Letraset" to label the controls and connectors. I purchased it many years ago at a hobby shop. I can no longer find it in the style that I need. Everything I found was either too large or the wrong color. I prefer white labels. I searched and found some Chartpak lettering but it also was too large.

DIY Audition Recordings for Schools, Competitions, Orchestra
We get questions on this topic pretty frequently. Some of them are specific to particular instruments, but I thought I'd post some general thoughts I have on the subject that I didn't want distracting other threads.

Speaking of Budget Gear, how about Low-Cost DIY?
Thought I'd share some DIY Projects I've designed and built.
First photo is from my home studio: I designed and built the 24-space rack, the Workstation/Desk, the 8-inch deep acoustic panels behind the desk and the supports for the 3 Owens-Corning 703 Acoustic Panels (I bought the Panels "Raw" from ATS Acoustics then covered them).
DIY mic preamp options?
Hi all, brand new here. Hope I'm asking in the right place.
I've been in live sound for ages but am just building up my first recording rig.
I have a pair of AKG 414's and would like to complement them with some better preamps than my Soundcraft K1 console (which seems fine for general band tracking but I'd like something a bit special for vocal overdubs etc).

DIY ELA 251
So the schematic i found for the ELA 250/51 *EDITED BY LINK* is pretty much hand drawn and many of the values i can not read. Mostly i am worried about the values of the pattern switching stage (the upper right) there is a resistor and a capacitor that are blobby and unreadable. the other thing is the PSU transformer, what would be a suitable volunteer for the job?

DIY Mic Preamp Kits
I'm currently using a PreSonus FireBox for an interface and I'd like to try my hand in building some basic outboard preamps for my dynamic mics. Opamps work fine, no need for tubes. I would like (but not necessary) one design that is relatively transparent and one that is more of a 'vintage' or coloring preamp.
