New DolbyA compatible decoder -- more useful than you might think!
I have just produced a usefully new version of the DolbyA decoder. The behavior is so exacting that it comes very close (if not superior in distortion) to the real DolbyA WRT spectograms and resulting spectrum response.
New version of the DolbyA compatible decoder
I just produced a new version of the decoder. It can do some amazing things, needed because lots of material (mostly before 1990s) has been distributed with DolbyA encoding still intact. That leaves a harsh, compressed HF, sheen, overly crisp voices -- kind of sound on the recording.
A lot of material is leaking out DolbyA encoded
I am sure that a lot of the pros out there realize that some of the older releases are leaking out DolbyA encoded. In fact, I have found numerous such releases (including two albums from HDtracks.) I have a site actually a couple of them with the HDtracks examples. I also have NUMEROUS other examples that aren't HDtracks that show before/after (and sometimes just after) DolbyA decoding.

I just received the mastering of a project I recorded few months ago, there is Dolby S on my tape machine, it was OFF for the first song I recorded, then I turned it ON for the other songs cause it was quiet music and wanted to get rid of the noises...

DOLBY S: HELP ME I'm in deep trouble
Hi everybody,
we recorded a few months ago some songs with an analog recorder with Dolby S.
We mixed yesterday but realized later that the dolby switch was turned OFF while we mixed (that explain the hiss) So now we ended up with mixes with hiss and hi end boost.
