Hello I am in the process of editing the vocals for a new mix I'm making and I'm curious about 2 things so I figured I would ask here, i'm looking for detailed answers from people with experience and knowledge and I'm thankful to anyone who can help. Here are the 2 things I am confused about.

1: Compressing Vocals (Specifically attack/release times)

well I'm currently enrolled in some sound/ film classes and at school we use logic / soundtrack / final cut. i am wondering if there is anything that compares to these programs that are for PC. my PC at home is a beast, and i really don't want to invest in a whole new system.

I am curious as far as wave editing programs go which one is regarded as the elite. Is it Wavelab 6, Soundforge 9, or Audition CS3. I am just curious, I seem to hear a lot of people say soundforge, which seems wierd since it is cheaper than all the others, but then again money isn't everything. Now I personally only work with wave & MP3 files, No MIDI work.

I have an audio file (a lecture) that needs to be edited and filtered for noise distortions. It was recorded with a clip-on mic and an Olympus digital voice recorder.

I am planning to record a drummer playing an electric drum kit through Midi and then use VST effects to enhance the sound.

I am just wondering it is possible to use VST effects on Midi tracks... or are VST effect only a feature for audio?

Not really sure if this is the right forum, although i do use Ableton and CoolEdit Pro as my primary editing and recording tools My current challenge is this. I have been trying to edit a field recording of a loved one that was recorded in a moving car.

I'm currently in a digital media class where we've been using Sony Vegas to edit audio, however, I'm sure that there are many other programs as well that people use professionally. I was wondering:

1. Talking specifically about the major motion picture studios, what are a couple of the programs that they use for audio editing (besides Vegas)?

I am a bit confused about a few things..

I have been using fruityloops (fl studio) for some time, along side acid pro 3 (don't laugh), recycle and then importing all of this into Sonar 6PE. It all works very well, but it seems a bit long winded.

Hi. Does anyone have an idea on how to best tighten up real drums on 8 tracks? Fx a basdrum?
