Here's a frequency response plot for the Alesis M-EQ 230 graphic eq bypassed (black), engaged with filters zeroed (red), +12dB @ 1kHz, -12dB @ 1kHz.

This has been a item I have never understood. I have used winamp and many other plays in my life, how precisly does an equalizer work. In both playback and recording. Same with my software like Audition CS3 you can choose to work with a 10 band 20 band or 30 band Equalizer? Thanks to anyone who helps clear this one up for me.

What kind of Equalizers do you use (or recommend) during mixing? I am currently just using the EQ plugin for Sonar and was looking to see if I could upgrade. Is there any rackmount gear that I could use or any EQ specific recording plugin that is used a lot?

i would like to ask what do u guys think of a signal pass through a graphic equalizer go to the input of the mixing console but not passing through the EQ send by aux and return during recording?

Reading Wieslaw Woszczyk's interesting article on Acoustic Pressure Equalizers on the DPA Microphones site http://www.dpamicrophones.com/Images/DM01554.pdf, I was struck by a provocative statement on page 21:

i use vamp2, I'm not satisfied with its equalizer bcause its kind of limited.
i dont own a good amp but i want to know if i get a seperate equalizer like
a dunlop MXR 10 band EQ can a seperate equalizer make a difference in live and recording situations.

Does anyone know of a free 10 (-ish) band PC EQ that will affect everything coming through my speakers? Does such a thing exist?

I am trying to set up my equipment to i can record music, listen to it, and then change the equalizer settings to make it sound better, and then use the first recording to record again with the new equalizer settings. i cant work out how to do this ! could anyone give me some tips please?
