Home Studio for Essentially Soft-Synth Only?

Hi,
Ive been dabbling for about a year with home recording on a budget, and it's time to get serious. I have:

P4 2.66 all purpose Dell 4550
1GB RAM (max supported)
80GB HD
Deta 66 (w/Omni box)
Yamaha P120 and Evo MK461c for midi control
DAW-worthless PC speakers (halfway decent consumer-level headphones)

Please help on deciding if I'm missing anything essential...

Hi, you may have seen me post in the Pro Audio Forum, but I'm back here.

Anyway, I'm trying to have a set-up to practice recording/mixing for as cheaply as possible and need some help on microphone suggestions. The tone I would like to eventually attain would be that punchy nu-metal, stoner rock, or blues like sound.

Here's what I have:

Which UAD-1 plugs considered essential?

. I've heard good about the Pultec and the LA-2A . .

I havn't bought yet and I am deciding between the project and studio paks...

the plugs I'm using are the Kjuher(sp?)-audio classic series plugs, and from what I've read and heard the UA plugs should be quite an improvement.

so, which plugs would i get the most immediate bennefit from?

What essentials do i need fr my home studio?

Hello I have recently got very intrested into recording my band and my own projects so i bought a few things to start myself out. I have been recording for a while now and i just wanted to know what essentials i would need to have a decent recording studio.

I need to buy items that are cheap and productive for I am on a very low budget.
