I'd like to start a sane, professional, civil discussion on the state (and spate) of ribbon mics out there available today. It seems like every time I turn around, there's a bunch of new ones availabe - some brands I've just started hearing about, some even newer than that.

My wife sings. Alot. For Christmas i'd like to buy her a unit that will allow her to record herself on a CD in clear pro-audio. Something nice.

She sings solo every Sunday in front of about 4,000 people and she likes to practice at home. Recording herself would be great for her practice.

I've been through these forums for a few weeks now, and i've finally registered in hopes that i could get some advice from some people about recording a live show. I have a basement studio in my house that i have been recording bands in for quite some time now, and i was interested in recording a show with my equipment, which i am this coming weekend.

Hello to everyone. I’m looking for a vocal mic to add to my set-up and would like some suggestions.
The use would be to (primarily) bring out the qualities of a male vocal between baritone and tenor.
I’ve done the search but can’t find anything that addresses this specific question.

Anyone ever been to a recording forum that had a specific section for listening/critiquing peoples' mixes? Good idea?

I hate pushing my stuff on people who aren't looking to listen to mixes. but now that I've got a few of 'em...I wouldn't mind hearing some tips!

Kind of like how the mastering engineer is that second set of ears.

hi, i just have a few questions on a beginning setup to start my recording. i have recorded things in the past, but i used hardware/software that was definitely not up to par. i am willing to spend some money to get a decent setup to record with, but i want to make sure i have plenty of opinions from people that are experienced in the field.

ok hi I'm new to this...ive got a question but I'm not quite sure whether I'm in the right forum. ok my husband has got his keyboard, drum machine and bass and all that hooked up to the stereo and i wanted to hook the stereo into the pc to record what he plays...is that possible...and if it is what program do i need to dl to be able to record what he is playing?
