2 Shure sm57 - dynamic
1 Shure sm58 - dynamic
2 RODE nt5 - small condenser
1 RODE nta1 - large condensor

I just recently upgraded my front end from a Mackie VLZPro to a Ramsa WR S4424 (primarily for the convenience of the direct outs on all channels, although the improved mic preamps didn't hurt a bit)

i currently have a Mackie onyx 1620 firewire but am about to upgrade to the MOTU 896HD aes/ebu out to a benchmark dac1 to monitors. Question is can i keep my Mackie in play. Take the 25 pin out to the MOTU which is only 12 chan and all xlr? the other option is scraping it all and going to a Tascam dm-3200 firewire to the dac1.

I'm actually debating on a new front end for now, damn fireface should have been in stock ohhh well, ok theirs the digimax, Mackie 800r, maudio octane, b-ringer ada8000 and few others on budget prices. Which of these deserve the shot, thanks.

I am getting ready upgrade my front end (or maybe just add to it). I'm looking to get the best possible vocal chain as funds allow. Here's the scoop:

Currently have:

TLM-103 (also have an at4033) into A-Designs mp-2 into Lucid ad9624 into RME soundcard.

Looking to either add a new mic: at4050, 4060, u195, or CharterOak SA538 (the laters requiring more saving)

as i'm sure i've mentioned in other posts, i'm upgrading a lot of things and wanted to get the RO opinion. (you've all been so helpful already).

my band is not hard rock--if anything it's along the lines of ben folds...a lot of acoustic instruments and LOTS of rhodes :lol:

I've been researching many front end options. I've read about them individually, but haven't seen them discussed together, compared/contrasted. I really only need 2 channels. I'm not opposed to more, but I imagine a 2 channel setup will yield better quality per channel.. My needs are pretty basic. I'll be mixing in the box.
