MXL 990 >> Behringer Mic200 + 2 days = Hiss ?

Forums

Hey..i'm TOTALLY new to the recording stuff neither did i have a lot of money. So I got the least expensive stuff i could find. I got a MXL 990, Some LiveX XLR cable (5ft), & a Behringer Mic200. I plug that into my Home PC with a standard Sound Card. Anyway, when I started out it sounded great. Ofcourse, since they are really cheap so there was this hiss.

How to stop that annoying hiss sound!

Hey, I'm new but i got a microphone just recently, its a dynamic Audio-Technica ATR20. i know its really cheap and everything but its all i can afford at the moment. I plugged it into my computer and everytime i record something theres the most annoying sound ever.. :x ive always wondered if it was maybe my soundcard or something. :?

Hi have Edirol DA PCI 2496. Experiencing hiss. Please Help

Just joined. I am building a small project studio. I have a problem with hiss even when gains are turned all the way down. Is this common with the Edirol DA PCI 2496. How can I stop hiss.

Also can anyone recommend a good budget stereo compressor for recording a motif 6 synth pads, bass and percussion into computer.

Cheers

"Hiss" from my new Focusrite VM Pro

I've been having trouble getting a clean signal on this new equipment. Here's the chain...

CAD M9 tube mic > Focusrite VM Pro > Edirol UM-25 > computer Hard drive located in the next room. Pretty simple, yes?

The cabling from the Cad mic into the VM pro is a balanced XLR, and from VM Pro to Edirol is balanced XLR also.

Joemeek VC3, hum and hiss whenever I turn on the phantom

I JUST GOT A JOE MEEK VC3, AND WHENEVER I TURN ON THE PHANTOM POWER, I GET A LOT OF HUM AND HISS. IS THIS DUE TO THE CRAPPY WAL-WART POWER SUPPLY THAT CAME WITH IT? I HEARD THAT SOMEONE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME CONFLICT AND THEY PURCHASED A ROLLS PS-12 POWER SUPPLY AND IT MADE THE SIGNAL MORE QUIETER. PLEASE HELP, THANKS.

Line-in hiss with SoundBlaster AWE64

I've begun to experience hiss when recording through the line-in with my SB AWE64. Is there any way I can prevent this hiss?

I go headphone-out from my minidisc recorder, through a preamp, into the sound card's line-in. When I just play the minidisc audio through the sound card's line-in, the sound is excellent, with minimal or zero hiss.

Removing Hiss/Clicks after Mastering?

Forums

I realize this is probably a rather amateurish question for a very professional forum, but was still hoping someone might be able to help. A friend of mine recently had his demo mastered on the cheap (against my advice). It actually sounds decent, but a couple songs are fraught with clicks and hiss (i'm guessing due to the original recording).
