Are IDE hard drives up to speed nowadays?
I plan on doing some video in the near future along with audio. So I was wondering, are the current HD's up to speed? The last time I used this one video program, I would get a lot of "jitter" whenever I'd play a movie or something. I was under the impression  that the RPM speed of the drive determined this. Is my theory correct or is it wishful thinking?

Which IDE controller for Intel 850EMV2?
Hi. I'm presently using the standard Microsoft XP Pro drivers to control my hard drives.
I've heard tell there may be better options.
Anyone have any experience with the Intel Application Accelerator drivers? Intel makes some strong claims for these drivers; the company seems like it's on a roll with its mobos and processors so they could well be true.

Which is the correct IDE cable?
I heard that there is a difference between the HDD cables that my P4PE will accept. Someone eluded to the fact that to get the highest ATA, I'll need and 80pin? rather than the older style cable on my primary IDE channel, to be sure I'm not running at ATA/66 or the like.
I'm not sure how to tell if I'm using the correct cable. Can someone please advise me? Thank you.

SCSI, IDE or firewire?
I run a mix plus on a quicksilver 733 with atto SCSI ultra and two IDE drives - what about firewire?
I heard you can only run 24 tracks from a firewire drive... true?
Is firewire as fast as a SCSI ultra (...10`000 rpm)
what are you working with?

CD-R: IDE or SCSI
so I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a SCSI CD-R (Plextor) but was wondering if IDE's were really that bad. it'll be used for audio CD burning and data backup. your thoughts?

How To: Adding a Removable IDE drive to a G4
I wanted cheap removable hard drive storage for my G4 to archive all my files to and to have a way to store a single project on each disk.
I wanted to use IDE because it's cheap fast, and pretty reliable. I didn't want to use firewire or SCSI because they're more expensive.
