I have a question about converting from 24/96 down to 16/44.1:

I do the mastering of my home projects in wavelab. how is the converters in it? should i record in 48k and dither down at the end, or should I stick to 44.1?

i recorded a session the other day in pro tools at 48 khz. the problem was, the clock was set to 44.1 khz and now i have 44.1 khz files that play back at 48 khz (so they sound sped up - faster and higher in pitch).

I've been doing mastering for 4 years with 12KHz lo-pass filter ALWAYS engaged and sometimes I use hpf around 40 to 80Hz to shape the bottom as well. And then doing apropriate taylor eq, compress, limit. de-ess, brickwall, and dithering process.

Is there anyway I can convert my tracks rendered to 320 kbps 48 khz mp3s to 44.1 khz without any quality loss, so I can burn them on CD without having to render every track over to 44.1khz wavs?
that could take years!. .

I'm new here, so I don't know if you have already discussed about this before... probably you have! I'm from Argentina so excuse my awkard english.

If the frequency response of DSD goes upto 100kHz, then what speakers actaully lets my brain aware of these freqs? I.e the freq. of most monitors just dont go that high so therefore we'd be much better just have that has more bits than freqs?

Finally got my new spider up and running, buuuut...

There's a whistle at exactly 14,386Hz coming from the digital (and analog!) 2-bus that is killing my ears! It's not loud, in fact it's buried somewhat by the unit's inherent noise. But it's still piercing! Is there anyone out there that's used this unit and had this problem before?
