Laptop Static/Noise Problem

I just got the M-Audio Firewire Solo box today and it works great on my desktop but on my laptop while the laptop is plugged in it gives off this noise/static. I think it might be a ground loop isolation problem and i have a ground loop isolator from Radioshack but its for RCA connections. I'm thinking I might need a power conditioner. Any ideas?

Laptop to PA

I,m thinking of using a trigger pad and macbook laptop, and I,II need to connect the laptop to the PA. The only audio out is a 3.5mm stereo socket on the macbook(I havent actually bought the laptop yet, but I think that is the case) What is the best way to connect to the stage box? I will need to use two channels on the stage box for stereo mix.
thanks.

Laptop - sending audio out

I'm looking to purchase a laptop for a mobile recording rig and to use for my home editing, tracking, and mixing. What is the best way of sending the audio out of the laptop? I may decide to route the signal back into a mixer or straight to the monitors. Is there an external sound card I could buy for the laptop that will have all the great connections going out.

Current Laptop/ Can I use?

Hi Guys,

I have an HP Pavilion laptop right now. I checked in the device manager under IEEE Bus Host Controller and it says Texas Instruments OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller .

Could I try and use this one year old AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology ML-2, 1.79 Ghz, 1 GB RAM laptop to do some basic audio recording using my PreSonus Firebox as the interface?

laptop frustration!

I have been reading up on laptops for a while now... and have started to become a little frustrated. I am trying to find the perfect laptop to use in a live performance situation (ie, software looping/effects/virtual instruments) and some recording. I currently have a Firepod and usually use Cubase LE and Reason 3.0 for my recording setup (windows XP based).

How to connect external drive - laptop - firewire interface

I just made the plunge into firewire recording, just ordered a 16 channel firewire mixer. I am really nervous about the latency issue, I had a standalone unit which does not have that problem. How do I go about connecting a external firewire hard drive and the interface together on a laptop? Most recommend an external drive for recording.

Laptop

I was wondering if anyone has had success or trouble multitracking onto laptops...

I'm afraid if I go out and grad a pretty nifty laptop that I will suffer horrible latency and problems actually mixing the music...(laggy / horrible performance)

I'm thinking a 2.0+ghz core 2 duo
2 gigs of ram

And can I record directly onto an external hd? too much latency?
