learning PT

ok, so i know, soon planning to make the big move to the big time in NYC recording world that i need to learn PT [God, let me PLEASE get a monkey boy job! please please.

sadly, i hate it [as far as i've used it, i didn't like how it sounded, and it's ugly]

i've been an emu/ensoniq PARIS user for a long time, and have a love hate relationship w/it.

Learning the trade

I'm an old guy, but my 26-yr-old son plans to attend an "audio engineering" school in New York City. The two he's considering are Institute for Audo Research and the SAE Institute.

He's a college grad and a performing musician. He's also had some recording experience.

Opinionsabout which school provides the better training in this field?

TIA.

Learning the art of mastering...

Forums

I haven't actually mastered anything yet myself, nor do I think that I am any good at it. But most of my clients at the studio (in Asuncion, Paraguay) ask me to "master" their stuff. I usually try to refuse to put any attempt in "serious mastering." Most of these projects are VERY low budgets proyects that, in all likelyhood, will NOT get mastered.
