Large or small Diaphragm ?
I have (in my short life as a recording enthusiast) always used a pair of c1000,s as overheads but I have primarily used them to mic up the cymbals (rolling off everything below 500hz).
I am now trying to progress and to purchase 2 mics that I can use as true overheads. I want two mics that will give a good sound of the whole kit so that all I need to add is a kick and snare mic.

Sampling Rates
I work at Guitar Center in Harrisburg as the Pro Audio Dept Manager. I'm running a pair of MOTU Travellers and I really like them a lot. My boss, my friends and I are having an ongoing debate about sampling rates.

Info On Old Disc
Hi,
I have just received an old disc for transcription. I reckon it could be 60 years old. It is made from metal and is coated in "vinyl". I only know its metal as the vinyl or whatever material it is, is scratched off in parts.
Can I play this disc on a modern turntable without damaging it?

Full circle around a Blumlein Pair - a capella
Had a fun recording on Sunday. A vocal group at a college about 90 minutes away hired me to record them for an archival CD for the members. 17 singers - I had them stand in a circle around a Blumlein pair (SPC3) with Oktava MK319s for lead vocal and beatbox. No beatbox on this piece, but ended up with some fun stereo placement quite by accident.

I'm gonna build a studio on the road. Thoughts?
Hey guys, so I do a lot of music stuff in my area .. booking, web design, management, etc.
I just bought a Mackie ONYX 1220 mixer (for sale: (Dead Link Removed)#267521 ). So i'm going to upgrade to a 1620 because I need the additional XLR inputs.
Recording Solo Timpani
I've been asked to record a piece for solo timpani this week. The piece is for 4 drums, and can be performed with or without percussion ensemble accompaniment (this will be the unaccompanied version).
At my disposal are:

Why should I not use a subwoofer?
So i'm in a smal project studio, and it probably goes without saying that it's not the most sonically balanced room in the world, but I am using HR824's and i just purchased the 1280 Mackie sub that goes with it. I love the sound of those monitors and the sub sounds great with them, but I have heard/read that I shouldn't mix with the sub on unless i'm mixing 5.1 (which I am not.)

ETF 5 and LF Waterfall plots
Hi,
I have ETF 5 and I want to make a waterfall plot for my low frequency response. Now I am pretty sure I have done it right but I just want to know how you do it as I am not convinced.
