What does a PZM mic do that a mic such as a BETA 52 on the floor will not do?

Was just wondering what some of the fave mics and Micing techniqus are for recording solo classical guitar.

Hi there, the q is, if i want to have good low sound it has to be a 8"
but t get better mid sounds it should be 6", or at least that's what i've heared while tryin out as many monitors as i can.
So what is the really best choice b-tween them.
Or should i buy some full range speakers?(Twetter - Squawker - Woofer) and forget about two way systems.

Hi, i have recently recorded and mixed a rock band, am having some trouble with the mix and need some help.

The thing is that my studio monitors are not really pro reference speakers, but somehow have managed with them by eqing to get a more realistic sound.

I have been reading up quite a lot about recording and mixing. Why do you have to mic the guitar or bass amp? Why cant you just feed it directly into the mixer?

Managed to pick up a Sennheiser 441 for $100(canadian even!) from a fellow, he offered to throw in a 541 for $20 so I said what the hell. now I've scoured the web to find out the differences/similarities between the two and can't find a thing.

I'm thinking about trying this mic with my USBpre and an ibook running PT free for live stereo recording. I'd also like to check it out as an overhead in the studio.

Anyone here using this mic ? I'd appreciate any feedback.
