Looking for step by step set up instructions for direct connection from HDR to Mac.

Will I need any third party software (other than an FTP program) to set up the peer to peer network between the HDR unit & the Mac (such as I would if hooking up a Mac & a PC)?

Or will all I need is just a crossover cable & an ethernet card?

Hey- I've got a Beige G3 233 in the studio right now, and I'm having a hell of a time getting it to not lock up. It's got OS 9.1 (which I understand may be the problem...), a 40g IBM on a Sonnet ATA100 card (partitioned as 4 10G's), 288M RAM, Digital Performer, and a 2408. It has no modem, and the only other programs installed are Audiodesk and Retrospect (for a VXA1 tape drive).

Odd...I had a warning come up that says I have a missing extension (funny, it doesn't LOOK any shorter).

How do you get on this MOTU mac mailing forum I think if they were aware of this forum we would get a lot more traffic on this board there are a ton of DP users out there that can be a big help.I think it's topica something or another if someone would post on there about dawworld I think there would be a great interest in this board.Just a thought!

I have a 1.3 Gig AMD PC and Cuebase.It is awoefully inadequate system. I sold my analog multitrack and need to be able to record 13 simultaneous tracks of 24 bits at once. I don't want the expenxe of Pro Tools. Would Windows 2,000 a Mac or the Tascam MX 2424 be the best way to achieve what i need? Does Cuebase work any better (crashes, overdub problems)on a Mac?

I have been happily running Pro Tools 4.1.1 on my 9600 under OS 8.1 for a "long" time (in computer years). :D

I guess OS 9 and PT 5.0.x is as far as I can go with this, because (SURPRISE!) the "old" digi hardware won't work with what they're putting out now.

I am getting a new dual 500 G4 in 2 days, a nice change from my current 200mgh 7300.
I now need to find a usb midi interface.
Any suggestions?
I know that initially usb midi had some problems.
