Looking for step by step set up instructions for direct connection from HDR to Mac.

Will I need any third party software (other than an FTP program) to set up the peer to peer network between the HDR unit & the Mac (such as I would if hooking up a Mac & a PC)?

Or will all I need is just a crossover cable & an ethernet card?

Will the same ethernet cards which work on the PC also work on the Mac (I have a few laying around)?

Is there a step by step guide to do this in one of the technical references?

Are there any issues we should be aware of with Performer?

We will be doing some things like radio & TV/Video programs for which the background compositions will be done using the MOTU program.

Thanks very much for any responses.

It's pretty simple man...find the IP address needed for the HDR..go to the IP setup in the mac..enter address..that's it..done..no extra software needed..no third party hookups or anything like that...If you have an ethernet port on the Mac you're done...if not get a NIC card and install it..
if it doesnt work then make sure all the neccessary FTP or internet extensions are turned on. the Mac is busy so I cant look rightnow as to where the setup is for the IP enter is..I'm sure you know..ig not bare with me and I'll check it out soon enough for ya..hope that helps
