TO: Clint Stuart/MS Mic technique revisited?
TO: Clint Stuart
In an earlier post by Kgretlein, you offered some suggestions. I'm interested in trying this technique out front of a drum kit (recording session).
My question is; you mentioned multing the figure 8 mic so that you now have two channels of the figure 8 mic-a panned left & right signal. You mentioned changing the polarity of one of those signals.

MS Micing Technique?
What is and how exactly do you use this technique? A friend of mine told me it has to do with two mics one in a cardiod and the other in a figure eight. Any comments GREATLY APPRECIATED. Or any other techniques to get a very lush 3D vocal sound.
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate this!
Keith

single mic technique?
This may belong in the Advanced Mic Techniques forum, but as I'm one of Harvey's students, I thought I'd ask here.
Our band is talking about climbing out of my basement studio, leaving our close-mic'd electric stuff behind and going acoustic for a bit.

Where is the Fletcher 3 mic technique?
I read about it here somewhere. I tried every kind of search with many combinations of what I thought were the key words but I can't find it! I kinda remember it but I want to have the original for reference. I want to try it at a session soon. Just as a side note I remember Niko Bola had 3 mics set up in Steve Jordan's loft in what I believe was a similar configuration. Coincidence?
