Budget Vocal and Overhead mics

Forums

Okay, I am looking for a nice vocal mic, for about £200. So far I have been looking at the RODE NT1000 & NT2A and the BLUE Bluebird.

I am also looking for a matched pair of condensers that could be used for drum overheads, but also acoustic miking. The RODE NT5 is what I have my eyes set on at the moment.

Am I on the right track?

$2000 budget for basically for mics and etc

Alright so I am pretty tired with these CADs I bought for drums a while back and I was thinking about upgrading my drum mics.

I own a firepod or studio whatever it has 8 inputs and I am going to buy a second one. I use Cubase to mix.

I read up all about these preamps and EQs and a bunch of other stuff and maybe I should try this stuff out perhaps?

Looking for advice on purchasing overhead mics and other qns

Forums

Hello there.
I'm looking to buy a pair of overhead mics.
My budget is 700ish at max for a pair, but I don't want the "best" for my budget, in the sense I don't want to spend a lot more for an improvement that isn't significant, but I am willing to spend that much if it's at least somewhat of a significant improvement.

The Wonderful World of Mics

I'm just trying to get familiar with microphones in general and was just wondering what are the most popular mics around, what are they typically used for, and (if any sound clips are available) what do they sound like? This would make a great resource. I'm pretty green so the only mics I really know at this point are your basic SM58, SM57 and NT1A.
