What mics to use for location video production?

I am looking at buying mics for my edirol 4 pro hard disk recorder to use on location for short films/weddings/documentary work. I'm thinking of getting either a Sennheiser me66 or 67 and a radio mic (lavier/handheld). I am open to suggestions for a omni directional mic for ambient sound recording and any other suggestions that you have.

Suggestions for Mics to get

I'm looking to spend up to $1300 and am in desperate need of some new mics. I don't have much now, but have the purpose of slowly building up my studio as funds permit. I would like to get at least 2 microphones with the $1300, but would be open to any food for thought :) I've been looking at stuff like Neumann TLM 103, AKG C414 B-XLS, RODE K2, NT4 and NT5s, Beyer M 130 & M 160.

Reguarding Mics and phase/polarity

When you're double Micing say a kick drum or an acoustic guitar or something like that using two different types of mics on the same source(beta 58, at2020 instrument mic), do you absolutely need to set them out of phase with each other? Is that usually reserved for when you're using two of the same mics?

Im trying to read about this in 'modern recording techniques' but Im lost

Shure SM57 Drum Mics

Im looking to start a studio sometime in the near / distant future. I was looking into getting the Shure SM57 drum mic kit, and I was hoping to get some opinions on the kit. I've done some reviews on the kits as is, and they seem to be pretty popular, but I was hoping to get the opinions of some seasoned veterans.

Any input would be greatly appreciated :)

Looking for small stereo mics for MD recording.

Hey guys!

Just got myself a new portable MD recorder. One of the reasons was also to do some basic field recording. What I would like is a fairly decent microphone, to do some quality recordings. Looking at a budget of $100. (but if it's REALLY good, I might stretch it)

After some research I found the following main options:
