Problem with mixer/mouse/monitor combination

Not sure where to post, I'll try it here:

I'll start by making the assumption that there are a few people here who use a DAW in conjunction with a large mixer (16-8 or bigger). How have you configured your physical setup to make it work while recording/mixing? Have you made some piece of specialized furniture? Trackball on/under the mixer surface?

Digital Mixer + Adat

Hey, i am a newcomer to the board and was wanting some advice. I've been doin some local recording for about a year now, using my digi001. I am wanting to upgrade to a digital mixer and hard disk. I've been looking at the Tascam DM24 as well as a panasonic board, and for the hard disk, i was lookin at the Tascam mx2424 and the Alesis HD24 as well as a fostex.

mixer to soundcard

Hey ppl

I need to purchase a soundcard to add to my recording setup.

Will it be advisable to get each seperate input into my computer (i would need about 18 soundcard inputs)? or should i rather group inputs and then send them to my computer (less inputs obviously)?

And what is a good card to buy? Remember I'm on a budget :)

keep well all

Out of Inputs -Need a Line Mixer

I have a Mackie D8B and a huge synth/sampler setup and along with returning effects and compressors I am totally out of inputs. The D8B gives me 48 ins but the instruments are all stereo so I'm maxed out. I need to find a very high quality line mixer that I can use to bring things back into the board. I don't want it to take up too many rack spaces. Somewhere between 1 and 4 would be cool.

Which Is the best mixer for poor people: ME

Hi, i have got a Mackie 12vlz mixer (it is not mine I have to give it back) and I need to record acoustic instrument Trhough a RODE Condenser Mic into an a Pro pc sound card,
Do you know a cheap but good mixer with not much channels but really good Phantom power and Mic Preamps, Or it is better (to the sound) to buy a good Mic Preamp and plug it in to the Pc.

Replacing mixer or getting a better preamp?

I've got a line for a Speck Xtramix for about $1500, and have heard a lot of good things about this. I'm currently using a Spirit LX7. Is this $1500 going to be better spent upgrading my mixer or should I plough the dough into getting a better preamp? The only outboard I have at the mo is a Drawmer 1969. Whaddaya think?
