Dante Network Adpters Now Available (xlr-ethernet, usb-ethernet, aes-ethernet)

this is pretty cool stuff. seems like a pretty painless way to patch into the world of Ethernet, without sacrificing your analog toys. max sample rates 96k, 48k on the usb one, but that's noes an issue for most things. id love to see an 8 channel, and ultra high sample rate model soon, for audiophiles and home theater applications. wifi support cant be too far away either.

Recording Musicians' track-sharing Network starting

Just opened today: The Recording Musicians' Network, a free, quality website to connect and collaborate on creating new songs. It is based on the concept of "track sharing," where recording musicians from various geographical locations are hired to contribute an instrument layer to someone else's project.

How much do network TV shows pay for music?

I am thinking about releasing some royalty free music similar to what FreshMusic.com does. I would sell perhaps 10 songs on CD for $50.00 (or something like that) for use in 1 production, provided that the music is not used for a show on MTV, Discovery Channel, History Channel, or other show that is not indie. But how much do these shows pay for music?

Network Backplane

What the heck...

Let's see if we can get some more activity in here...

My current switch is an HP ProCurve 2824 with cat5e and Cat6 in a direct hope run configuration.

Cat5e in the lounge and Cat6 for all the audio and servers.

Just curious as to what everyone else is using for switching and cabling.

Anyone using P.O.E. for VOIP phone systems?

Crappy music mixes on network television

So having worked in the business for a while, I'm wondering why I've heard this change over the recent past? Music mixes on Jay Leno, Conan O'Brien, Carson Daly, et al.. What's with these music mixes of these bands? The most underwhelming mixes and lackluster sound I've ever heard. It's getting worse. No effects, no reverb, no space, lousy equalization, lifeless.
