Putting together a home studio. Was hoping I could get some feedback on the equipment list. Will be recording mostly drums & strings (limited MIDI).

Heres the specs I'm looking at:

2gig DDRRAM
40gig & 80 gig HDDs
Dual DVDRW

I am just starting my own full studio, dont get me wrong i have been playing with music for yrs but only on a small level in my basement, anyways i will be recording mainly hip hop and i was woundering if anyone can help me find what i am missing and tell me the best product for hip hop,

Unsure of a few things though.

First off the main thing to be recorded will be Rap and R & B.

2nd,i guess i've decided to run pro tools and I'm going to run with either the digi 001 or the mbox.probally the 001 because of the amounts of outs and in's.

I’m in the process of converting my basement into a home studio. My pc is done but now I need an interface. I was looking at the aardvark Q10 or the Focusrite Octopre. What are the differences between both of these? I noticed the Q10 has midi inputs and the octopre doesn't. What does midi actually do and what do I need to use it? Sorry for so many questions, I’m just starting out. Jeremy
