Noise Gate expander question
Hi
Out of all the Fx I use, Noise gates are the one that give me so much trouble. Compressors are usually the culprits in any novices set up...
I always try to record dry, no fx no compression.
Other people I have spoken too put FX on things... OK I might record with compression on Bass guitar, but thats about as far as it goes...

Help.. de-essing/Noise gates.. how/when to?
HI anyone help?
Heres the scenario.
project studio, recording a demo
I recorded a female vocal with a decent mic (AKG C4000) I tend to record clean with no effects or compression, and add later.
Whilst she was overdubbing, she had one earphone on and one off...

Anyone used ARX products, eq's or gates?
Their web page: http://www.arx.comau ARX[/]="http://www.arx.comau ARX[/]
They manufacture Eq's, so I just would like some proffesional take on it.
I've also seen, gates from ARX.

Trigger/keying gate
Say I want to use a kickpattern to trigger a guitar, so that everytime the kick kicks the guitar sounds.
How do I set that up in a DAW?
Some usefull tips and or links would be very helpfull.

Gate #2
I've got a gate issue as well, but it is different enough from the other gate thread, that I thought I'd post it here.

Gate
I'm about to edit the drum tracks but I can still hear the gate on the snare.I mean the typical "pss". Of course is better when I push the O.H. louder but is there another way to make it better?

HD matters: maxtor or seagate?
this probably has already been done before, but i need yer help! i've read that the seagate is much more quiet and better for audio work, but the guy at the store told they are much more prone to getting damaged and advised maxtor... what d'ya say?

Drums: Compression or Gates?
Recording 3 piece live in barn.
4 mics on drums (kick, snare, 2 overhead) all subbed to two tracks ADAT.
IF I would like to try dynamics processing of some sort -- which is more common: compressing or gating? 4 or 2 channel as in 1 per mic or just kick and snare? Or perhaps process after subbed to two? process to tape or at mix?

Need eq recommendation for use with gate.
I own a PreSonus ACP-88 compressor which consists of eight compressor/gates. I use it exclusively for drums. I am having problems getting the gate to work well to eliminate mic bleed without the threshold set too high and decreasing the sensitivity of the drum, that is having to hit the drum extremely hard.
