I am going to take part in a production of Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas" in a few weeks. I am involved as theorbo player and as I am also doing recordings on a regular basis I was asked to produce a (noncommercial memorial) CD of the event. As I have to play also I want to keep the setup as simple as possible.

after about 10 years in NYC I just moved back to the Vaterland in Germany and I am looking to continue my work recording opera singers on the side. In NY I always had the luxury of being able to use a studio at a major radio station, in few words I got spoiled, all I had to do was to sit down and work with the singers on interpretation, words etc.

About a month ago I was asked to make a recording of the premier of a new musical. The performance will be a one-time shot for the composer, so the recording is a critical element if there's to be any future for the work. The performance is in two weeks, so I'm starting to get anxious. This is normal. 8)

I used to get this error conistently...
I was able to fix it by opening the task manager in Windows XP (ctrl alt delete), clicking the processes tab, finding the Pro Tools process (Pro Tools has to be running at the time), right clicking on it, and setting its priority to high.

I am unsure if this is in the correct forum. If it is I am sorry.

I have just bought an E-MU 0404 card and installed it on my computer. There seem to be a few problems however which (I am guessing) are software related.

Has anyone here ever recorded opera singers and can recommend:
a good mic $1500-2500 range and a pre at same range

Harmonics in the opera voice is a fundamental characteristic to the sound and I wouldn`t want these overtones to be compressed. Any specific mic used as a preference. Any ideas?

I use a Mac G4 & Digital Performer 3.11. Midi xt, 2 Yamaha O1v's linked together. Preamps Dbx 386, PreSonus. Plugins ; Auto tune & Unity. Mikes, SM57 & Akg 3000B.
At the time it just seemed to be the best way to go for the money

I am currently looking at several quotes on DAW tunkey systems. The more info I get the more these sales guys confuse me. They all say something different!
What's the best os for daw?
