Ok, so I brought and iPad and found the Mac experience to be not a bad as it used to be, and since I like to upgrade my studio PC every few years, I took the bait and started reserching Macs.

So heres the problem(s) Ive encountered so far, wondering your thoughts on the subject:

what would be in your opinion the minimum (and also recommended) system requirements for recording 8 tracks at a time in, for example, Sonar 8?

I'm talking about mobo, ram, hd, processor, etc

I'm looking for the best professional ready-to-go audio workstation, a strong PC laptop... I'd like it to be ultra-compatible with music production/recording software, and audio interfaces... I'd like it to be powerful (core i5 or i7). I'd like it to be the most silent possible...

Having a computer very quite is top priority.

Doing a comparison between Rain Computers, ADK and PCAudioLabs, The PAL kicks ass again.

Wow, just finished upgrading to Win7 Pro 64bit and adding 8 gig of RAM to my PCAudioLabs 965 i7 Sequoia 11 beast . Holy Slam Man, does this thing blaze now! Night and day from XP Pro.
Custom built and optimized PC's on this OS are incredible. I highly recommend what I got.

I have been doing more research on the laptop I want to buy for my home studio. I originally was looking at a PC because I am accustomed to them. I was probably going to buy a decked out Asus or Toshiba. After looking more thoroughly, custom computers like Rain, ADK, and PCaudiolabs seem to be the way to go and a Macbook Pro is even better.

Looking to to do an upgrade...would love to go intel but AMD is really inviting, $ per performance.
Has anyone had good experience with AMD system?
If so what components seem to work.
