amateur seeking professional help
Here's my situation everyone. I am a highschool senior and I have a HUGE interest in going to school for recording arts/sciences. The only issues is... umm getting into a school. My SAT scores are high and I have experience mixing for live shows (yes i even did one show for professionals), but most of the time I mix live audio for performance at church.

Equipment for a Professional Composition Studio
Hi, my name is Paul. I am electrical engineering student in the latter half of my BS degree, and happen to be a violinist. My girlfriend Erin is now receiving three bachelor degrees in music for composition, theory, and flute performance. She is going to continue her education and get a PHD in comp.

Why my recordings don't sound professional?
After struggling for a while, sucking in all the info I can find and trying to figure out why my recordings don't seem to sound as professional as pro recordings (and I do have decent equipment) I've realised that, as with anything else, excellence is in the details.

What lvl do professionals record into PRO TOOLS at 24 bit 48
What recording lvl do professionals record into PRO TOOLS at 24 bit 48. Because when I record at 0 DB THE WAVE FORMS Are so big and blobby, But when I look at professional done projects before on Pro Tools the wave forms look small on the screen. - aron

How to track synths the professional way?
Ok, I know how the easy way works in theorie and in practice.
Take a synth.
Connect it with a recording system (something like a HD-Recorder or PC).
Press record and start playing!
I have a rather simple setup with an average Audio-Card, a Behringer mixer, PC and Cubase.

Teaching clients why to "Have It Professionally Mastered"
I know the importance of mastering by a mastering engineer. But trying to tell most of my clients this is like speaking to them in Latin. My mastering guy has given me some good things to say that helps, but most of them really don't get it, all they hear is what it cost and all things considered it's pretty cheap. They see the Finalizer and Masterlink and say won't that do?
