i'm building a new pc for audio and would like to have the 40+ track count without shelling out for scsi. anyone have good or bad stories abt ide raid controllers? i had been looking at the promise fastrack 100 series.. thx

I was on Al Schmitt's forum and I noticed one statement which really caught my attention, and I wanna quote it, and then talk about the implications. He said,

"After the orchestra finished, we do some solo overdubs with flute and harmonica (which we end up not using) as well as vocals."

I was wondering what people think of having onboard raid. Asus just came out with a new version of the TUSL2-C motherboard, and it has onboard raid from Promise. It has four ultra ATA/100 controllers (including the raid controllers). I have a Promise Fasttrack 100 raid PCI card, and it gives me a lot of grief.

My motherboard has the tech but I don't know if it's for me. Two hard drives ata type. I've gotten rid of partitions on main drive and all is well. Followed Opus info to the letter(ok I'm still working on getting another 7200rpm -budget you know!). Will Raid be helpful and what are best settings?
