Recording bass w/ no amp or cheap amp
Forums
(I have similar post in another forum, sorry to anyone that's read this twice )
Been recording with Audigy2 Soundblaster card. Everything's been going smoothly until I went to add bass, and no I'm was stuck. Running the bass straight to the soundcard produced a very muddled sound with the low frequencies overwhelming the rest.

Recording Bass - Is a DI Box necessary?
Forums
ok,
I've been recording my own music for quite some time, but I never really mastered recording the Bass Guitar. I don't use an amp, but I don't use a DI Box. I plug it into a preamp, then to my soundcard. Is a DI Box necessary? If so how do I use it...Can I still use a preamp for tone?

recording electric guitar/electric bass with a Sennheiser E604
Forums
Hi all! Just wondering if any of you have ever tried recording electric guitar/electric bass with a Sennheiser E604? Have read people saying that the E604's sound a LITTLE like MD421's on toms, so therefor i wondered if they would be good as bass/guitar-mics. I know it is not very common to use these as mentioned, but. .anyone have any experience?

Recording bass guitar
Forums
I tried using the search feature, but kept getting some "debug mode?" screen without any results.
I am wondering how exactly I should record the bass guitar for this hard rock project.
THe bassist is using some sort of Ampeg head with a 4x10 Ampeg cab with tweeter. He is also using a Line 6 PODxt bass effects unit.

Vocal Recording (and some bass)
Forums
Here's a quickie:
I have a Seb vmp 4000e and a Focusrite ISA 238.
I'm using those for drums and guitars.
Will those pres work well on vocals, or do I need another unit, say a Grace or a Great River, for vocal duties?
At that rate, will those two pres do the job for fat bass? If not, what do you recommend for good vocals and bass?

Bass Amp For Recording Rock - Zep Sound
Forums
I'm trying to get a nice sounding bass sound that emulates the
early Zep stuff. Looks like he used an acoustic 360. Any idea if there is a way to get that sound with some pedals or some of the new type of amps?
Thanks.
Mark

Electric Bass Recording Trends: DI vs Mic
Forums
Curious to know most widely used bass recording technique used in pro and semi-pro projects: DI vs Mic vs Both?
99.9% of sessions and original projects I work on use DI. In fact I can't recall ever using mic on my rig (or brining my rig) during a session.
