Recording a trumpet, and what am I missing?
hey all,
I'm asking some help with recording a trumpet, but with a twist. We are looking at recording a trumpet with a pickup mic so that it's portable on stage, and processing it through Ableton live /or reason.
I've currently got:
iMac
mbox 2
a condenser, dynamic, ribbon mics

Recording chamber music - trumpet and violin
I have been asked to help with a recording project and need some advice. The budget for equipment is $1000.
The recording will be done in a medium size recital hall. I was thinking a pair of stereo mics in the hall, with a mic on each instrument.

Recording Jazz Trumpet
hello, I'm a trumpet player and I was wondering if anyone has any expirience with recording trumpet players as a solo instrument. What are some good techniques to help get the full sound of the instrument.
I'm really aiming for two particular sounds. One being that early Miles Davis quintet sound and the other that Roy Hargrove/Christian Scott sound.
here are examples:

Recording Trumpet - Unbalanced Waveform
I'm recording pre-production home demos using pro tools with an Mbox2 and a RODE NT1a. For some reason when I record Trumpet (and even sax) the waveform recorded is very heavy to the left side. I've tried moving the mic to different places, playing into the mic at different angles, etc.

Suggestions for recording trumpet and piano 4 audition tape?
Hi,
I'm putting together a recording for a recorded audition for an orchestra.
I will be recording mainly trumpet, but also with piano in parts.
The venue is quite live in acoustic , but not as bad as a toilet!
I will be using Logic Pro 6 with a MOTU 828.
need HELP - recording of sax and trumpet
need HELP !
during next weekend I have to record a sax and a trumpet (swing music) the first time in my life.
Unfortunately I don't have a seperate recording room and it will be quite difficult to get real control over the tone during tracking. Also intensive testing and trials might be difficult. Therefore I need to do it the first time right.

Recording Trumpet and Flugelhorn
I am recording through my Digi 002 and my best mic is a MXL V69 tube (mogami edition). I also have a PreSonus "Blue Tube" stereo pre.
First, should I use the Blue Tube pre or the 002 pre? If I use the Blue Tube, how do I achieve a rich tone (warm)?
Second, any placement and setting tips for getting a rich sound. So far all is too thin . . . .

Recording Trumpet & Flugelhorn
What mic/mics and techniques are you using to record trumpet, flugel horn and sax? I am extremely
happy with my vocal mic (BLUE BlueBerry) but it doesn't seem to cut it for trumpet. With a budget of about $500.00,should I be looking at large or small diaphragm condensers?
