Have you heard of the Revox A77 or Tascam MSR-16?
Im having the oportunity to purchase a Revox A77 tape deck machines at around $200 and a Tascam MSR-16 for $800. Both machines are in great shape. I would like to know if any of you guys own one and your experiences with them, how do they sound? reliability ? etc. I dont want a comparison on which one is better. i Know the Revox is a 2 track and the Tascam is 16. I would like your opinions.
Are brand new Analog Reel to Reel a thing of the past ?
Inst there Anybody still making these? All I found was a Tascam Tascam BR-20 that runs for $3000 at sweetwater.

Isnt there any manufacture that at least still makes an 8 channel one ? Let me know and thanks!

Reel to Reel Versus PC
What should the sampling rate on a PC recording software program be set to to emulate the sound on a R to R? I'm trying to get the most sampling without incurring latency using Steiberg's Cubase SL.
Thanks.

Soundcraft fx 8 or fx 16 for my Otari 8 track reel to reel?
Hi all, I have finally narrowed down the tpe of mixer that I want to purchase. THe only problem I have now is deciding whether I need to 8 channel Soundcraft fx 8 or the Soundcraft 16 channel fx 16 for my 8 track Otari reel to reel. I am mainly concerned with the ability or inability to record and monitor on the 8 channel board.
8 track reel to reel
While browsing on ebay, I have run across several 8 track reel-to-reel tape decks and I am wondering if tracking to tape and them going into the computer would be a good way to get a nice sound. Of course, the deck would be something along the lines of a Tascam 38-eight track so the quality is not crazy.

Okay I have defected... I Want a Reel to Reel
Let me start out by saying that I studied the (cheap) digital market cards for under $500 for about a year before almost buying one. I first bought Mic, then Preamp, and then heard a lot of recordings done on these magic cards Echo audio and Midi-Man pushes on the market. I WAS not impressed!
Good two track reel-to-reel machines for mixdown
'Now one thing I am considering doing is buying a good 1/2" two-track for mixdowns to take to the mastering house. Anyone have any opinions on this? The idea is that I would do all my tracking at 24/96 and mix down to the two-track analog deck.'

Reel to Reel 4-tracks
Hello. I'm looking into buying a reel-to-reel 4-track recorder because I'm tired of digital recordings. Does anyone know which models sound best, and what prices are reasonable? Are there any other places to look besides ebay and http://www.audiovillage.com? Are less expensive models still comprable in sound quality? Thanks,

Revox C278? Anyone used one of these?
Hello,
I just bought a Revox C278 1/2" 8-track. It was on eBay, and there was no picture of it, but the price seemed to be right...so I gambled and bought it.
Now I've received it, and it seems to be in near mint condition. There is no visible head wear. It operates at 7.5 and 15 ips.
