Announcing a remix contest: try your hand!

Hi Folks,

I am happy to announce a remix contest for my song "Borders", a dance-rock tune. "Borders" will be featured on my album, to be released Summer 2008. The winner of this remix contest has the potential to be included on the album. Full credit will be given to the winner.

If you have any friends who like to remix, please point them to this thread.

Remixes, Mashups

I was just wondering what everyone's approach is to doing a remix or a mashup?

I've been dabling in it just now but would like some tips on how to go about it.

Tips like:

What software people use.
How do people break down the original to use pieces of the track.
Where do they get samples, acapellas etc.
Other must do methods.

Definition of a remix?

hi all,
hope you can help me with an issue of mine...
i'm working on the musical project of mine (not alone) for more than 2 years, an instrumental electronic music project (not trance).
we finished writing the composition and recorded demo versions for all songs, found a good english mixer to work with and we're started to record the master.
