Description

In signal processing, sampling is the reduction of a continuous-time signal to a discrete-time signal. A common example is the conversion of a sound wave to a sequence of "samples". A sample is a value of the signal at a point in time and/or space; this definition differs from the term's usage in statistics, which refers to a set of such values.

A sampler is a subsystem or operation that extracts samples from a continuous signal. A theoretical ideal sampler produces samples equivalent to the instantaneous value of the continuous signal at the desired points.

The original signal can be reconstructed from a sequence of samples, up to the Nyquist limit, by passing the sequence of samples through a type of low-pass filter called a reconstruction filter.

Converting from 44.1 to 48khz:What's the best way?

Hello there guys...(and girls)

I have to convert tracks from 44.1khz to 48khz:
What's the best way to do it?

Would it be wise to just re-record the whole song with 48khz?

Or should I use a converter, the Pro Tools-Converter for example?

Any advice would be very nice...

merci

Is There 24 bit 2tk software ?

I've just installed my SECOND pro-sound card, (the first being a ZA2 which does killer sample rate conversions, but was only 16 bit).
I just added a Lex Core 2 card since it claims to be 24 bit. The problem is this; the software included looks and smells 16 bit out to me (Cool Edit). Am I missing something?
So again, I ask...is there a 24 bit 2 track software ?

32 bit Float vs 48 bit fixed --OR-- SDII vs WAV

Maybe some of you experts (technically or experience/ear wise) can tell clear up some possible misinformation that I have read lately. Sorry if this posts twice, I tried to post before and it didn't show up for some reason.

1)32 bit Float doesn't do what it says it does (always land at 24 bits), and that 48 bit fixed (Pro Tools) method is better. Whats the reality?

Bundle 2 vs Bundle 3 - 20 vs 24 bit input

Hello all,

I'm considering Paris for a project studio and was looking for comments on the difference in the 20 and 24 bit inputs.

I'm really trying to decide whether a Bundle 2 setup will serve OK or whether I might as well start w a Bundle 3.

Are there many users happy with a Bundle 2? It sounds like the MEC and Bundle 3 is the starting point for most everyone.
