Problems recording baritone sax
Last night I recorded my daughter playing some bari sax etudes for a band camp application. I used mid-side with a K2 as the mid and a C414 as the side. Put the mics about 2.5 feet from the sax a little below the bell.

Decent PA setup for sax, vocals, acoustic guitar, and music
Well, I'm sick of waiting for a band to come together, so I think I'm going to rely on some tracks in the meantime. What I was thinking about is getting the 1u rack mixer Rolls RM65, an effects processor probably a Lexicon MX200 or maybe a Digitech GNX4, and possibly a JBL EON G2 15".

need HELP - recording of sax and trumpet
need HELP !
during next weekend I have to record a sax and a trumpet (swing music) the first time in my life.
Unfortunately I don't have a seperate recording room and it will be quite difficult to get real control over the tone during tracking. Also intensive testing and trials might be difficult. Therefore I need to do it the first time right.

AKG C 1000 S as mic for sax
Am I asking too much of this modestly priced mic for sax recording?
And if it is adequate, any suggestions as to placement in relation to sax bell etc? And what about input volume settings ... ride it just short of too far, or keep it way below peak?
DAW set up is Sonar 4 PE with fast computer and 2 large HD's.

Best mic for sax?
I'm about to record a girl who wants some sax on her record, was just wondering which out these mics (or possibly combination thereof) would be best:
SM57beta
Sennheiser 421
AT4040
I was thinking the 421 with the 4040 for ambience, but any input would be very useful.

so i showed up to a friends reasturaunt gig and saw they had the sax micked with a 58. I thought to myself, i wouldn't use that, but realized i didn't know what i would use. Any suggestions? Maybe i'm wrong and a 58 is fine. Thanks.

I'm starting to get good results from recording my sax. Now the question is, how do I make it sound good in the mix? I'm looking for a very big warm sound. .I want the sax to be upfront and not a lot of reverb, but still sound ambient and full...
Avalon 737 Preamp settings for Sax?
I'm going to the studio to record my sax. To cut down on studio time, can you give me some suggestions on which setting to use for the Avalon 737 Preamp? The engineer doesn't know. I'm looking for a warm sound..
I'm using a AKG 414 mic
I'd prefer not to guess at a setting in the book.
