I've got a pair of Sennheiser MD421's that are sounding a bit nasty and distorted, and I'd really like to get them looked at by a reputable tech somewhere...

Anyone got any suggestions?

They are a U5 and a U3 that has the Tuchel connector replaced by an XLR connector.

I'm looking for opinions on specifically the omni capsule setup on the K6 modular system from Sennheiser. I record orchestras primarily and am quite accustomed to and use religiously the Schoeps CMC-62/64 and Sennheiser MKH-20's, but I'm looking for an inexpensive set for "Studio C". Any advice, reviews, or insight would be much appreciated.

Hey folks...I just bought another Sennheiser MD421 from a friend that is in need of some repair. It sounds horrible compared to my other one! Very thin, tinny, and just basically unusable!

I put it on a tom tonight along with my other 421 on the other mounted tom, and I could not believe how bad it sounded!

I ended up using a pair of Audix D2's that sound just fantastic!

I have a Sennheiser 421 that I have used with great results on Snare (alone and mixed together with a 57 )

Next weekend I am doing some electric guitar... Any suggestions for getting good results? (twin reverb type amp.)

Managed to pick up a Sennheiser 441 for $100(canadian even!) from a fellow, he offered to throw in a 541 for $20 so I said what the hell. now I've scoured the web to find out the differences/similarities between the two and can't find a thing.

Anyone tried these out?
I have a pair of Sonys and they sound fine but am looking for a HP with more isolation since I often track and record in the same room.

Your opinions.Where does it sound better?(Drums,Guitars? etc.)
