Linux Compatibility for Sonar 8.5 Producer's

Many moons ago, I won a contest from recording.org for a copy of Sonar 8.5 Producer's edition. I have been happily running the software on a Windows 7 desktop.

That machine has gone on to a better place so now I am putting together a new desktop. I am looking into running a Linux system (but may just do a dual OS install for audio).

Sonar 8 Mic Settings

Im using Sonar 8 to record vocals and Im having mic issues. Normally when I choose my input I select my microphone and it says left right or stereo. But lately it just says mono and it sounds distorted and awful. Im not sure if I'm having mic issues or software issues. I feel like it might be my audio settings but I'm not sure. I cant figure it out. Please help.

Cubase 5 vs. Sonar 8

Well... I finally got my new comp and downloaded the trial versions of Cubase and Sonar. So far, my familiarity with Cubase is making me lean in that direction. I do like the look of Sonar though. What I don't like is that I know version 8.5 has a lot more that 8.0 (which is the only demo version they offer).

Sonar 8.5

Sonar only gets better, taking advantage of Windows 7, 64bit running on a new PCAudioLabs i7. I have one of their boxes and its extremely slick.
