Help Please... Buzz coming from soundcard

Hello all.

I am new to the forum (as you can see from my post count), but not so new to recording. To put it plain and simple, Vista has thrown me into a whirlwind of confusion.

I tried installing Cubase (wouldn't work), Sonar (wouldn't work), and finally got Magix 2005 to install completely and run.

SE GM10 :( new soundcard with preamp or new mixer?

New SE GM10 microphone to record acoustic guitar not sounding great...what new equipment do i need?

Setup:
- Core 2 Duo laptop with Cubase.
- Soundcard MAudio Firewire Audiophile (no phantom power or preamps)
- Mixer Phonic 1002 (phantom power)
- Yamaha P5 Active Monitor Speakers

We are going to be recording software tutorials and so it will be voice only. The problem is that the pc's being used to record are small form factor with limited ability to add a sound card. So this brings us to the question, for voice recording is the internal sound card good enough or would a external USB type sound card worth looking into? Our type internal sound cards are:

I really hope someone can help me with this problem, I feel like I’ve made some headway but I’m still slightly clueless! Apologies if this post is a bit long.

First off my system: I have a relatively new Compaq 1.6ghz laptop, 1GB mem, win xp sp2, with a crappy internal soundcard, no slot for a new internal one.
