I need some advice for what to buy everyone says go with Pro Tools but Pro Tools le only has 32 tracks at 48khz and Cubase le has 48 tracks at 96khz and it dosent cost 10,000 dollars to upgrade it to a better program like Pro Tools does. And with Cubase i can get the fw-1884, have 8 mic preamps and a control surface for the same price as the digi 002 rack.

What is the best way to hook a midi keyboard (1 midi out port),
a Alesis SR16 drum machine (1 midi in and 1 midi out), a Roland SC8850 sound module (2 midi in and 2 midi out) with a Tascam FW1884 mixer. I've made a few attempts and have successfully recorded midi, but somehow it doesn't work anymore.
Should the keyboard go into the sound module or the FW1884.

Ok...I'm an idiot when it comes to midi. I'm borrowing my buddies 49key Radium and hooked it up to the midi input on my FW1884. I go into Cubase SX, add a midi track, and when I play I hear myself playing piano...cool, but every time I hit a key there is a short delay between when I hit the key and when audio comes out.

What is the best way to connect the following.
FW1884 mixer, SC8850 sound module, Roland PC 200 midi keyboard.
I'm using Cubase SX2. I need to be able to monitor from computer and from mixer with both midi and audio.
Any help, much appreciated.

Hey gang, I'm looking at the RME fireface and the Tascam 1884 for my new setup. I'm needing a firewire interface so that I can go from PC to Laptop.

The differences are obvious, but I was wondering if anyone can comment on the sound quality between the two?
Like how do the pres and and converters compare?

Im getting more and more interested in these beauts. I was just wondering if any one here owns, has owned, has used one or who knows someone who uses one etc and if they could pass their own "2 cents" as you say.

Tascam has a new unit available, it seems to offer quite a lot at a very low price ... which makes me suspect.
