Hey, I thought it may be a good idea to have a sort of "database" of people's experiences with tube manufacturers and models. I searched and could not find anything of the sorts. This way, people looking to upgrade or change tubes in equipment could have a reference to whether a certain tube may be darker, brighter, glittery, etc.

I need some help getting a decent tone in Pro Tools. I had one I really liked a week or so ago and I can't seem to find it again. I've been tweaking and tweaking and I just cant seem to get anything that impresses me yet. I'm looking for a modern hard rock tone. this is what i'm using.

mesa boogie triple rectifier, marshall 1960A cabinet, Shure sm57. .

Are there any generalizations one can make regarding the frequency ranges affected by the tone knobs on a guitar amp?

i.e. the range of bass, mid, treble, and presence

i.e. bass (80-300hz) *not sure if this is correct

I'm currently working on a piano/vocal song - and for some reason, I can't seem to get the vocals and piano to work well together.

Does anyone here know of a decent free tone generator plugin for OSX? I'm running logic express 7 and it doesn't have a tone generator in it. How frustrating.
