trying to understand "impedance" and "line level"
I'm trying to understand inputs. I have an electric bass guitar that I'm running into a UCA202. The bass is passive and I don't have a pre-amp. Going from the UCA202 to my DAW (Logic Pro), the bass sounds okay.

I've read this thing countless times but still some of the concepts and workflows and techniques evade me.
I figured this would be right up RO's alley because of all the technically inclined people here!
Im looking for a music program thats easy to understand for vocals!
Hello everyone. I'm kind of a n00b here, but my interests are very high, so please excuse my inexperience. I don't even know if I'm in the right forum, but I'm looking for a music program that is:
A) reasonably easy to get into and understand
B) has a variety of options
c) Has the capability to record my vocals
Mastering - trying to understand something
OK. I'm looking for opinions and advice on this subject I've noticed several times in the past.
A buddy of mine is amongst other music things, an expert music mastering Engineer. He has some very big clients to his name from the late 90s early 2000s.

Am I understanding re-amping?
Hey everyone. Right now, i record all of my songs direct in, then I use Guitar Rig 3 to 'amp' it. I do this one, because my amp is quite small, I can't really turn it up loud to record, and I have an awful room with hardwood floors and no sound proofing (my bedroom).

Im a bit confused about audio interfaces. If you get a mixer without firewire, usb does that mean it doesnt have a interface? and how do pick the right one for your mixer?

understanding headroom -- dBv, dBu, VU primer ?
Reasonably new to this. This question arises from my search for a new/new-to-me preamp to replace my mobilePre
(which, not surprisingly, doesn't provide tracks which stack particularly quietly).
I believe that I understand the concept of headroom (i.e. - how hot a (mic) signal can the preamp handle?),
but not the measurement units.
