Pristine Space - Please help me understand "true stereo
Ok, I've got Pristine Space, and I am an ex-SIR user. I have a basic understanding that SIR does the mono-stereo thingie, it's not "true stereo". But boy is it easy to load up an impulse and just go with it.

I don't understand mic attenuator switch
I have an AT4033a/SM, with the -10dB attenuator switch. I am recording vocals, and I don't understand if I should be using the pad switch or not.
The manual says this for Maximum Input Sound Level:
145 dB SPL, 1 kHz at 1% T.H.D.
155 dB SPL, with 10 dB pad (nominal)

Need help understanding Mbox! (track production)
Hey people I just joined the site today after looking at posts for two days. Anyway, I have just started to build my own project studio over the past week. The equipment I have is this:
Old analog guy needs some help understanding PC recording...
I'm attempting to set up a recording system for my church. We will be doing Christian type music as well as choir recording. Anything from 2-16 tracks. I've got my PC and I've been looking at recording interfaces such as the Aardvark Q10 (until I found out they folded) but I'm really interested in using a mixer instead of a box of preamps that feed into the PC and then mixing in there.
Compression settings and understanding them
Im stuck with my Alesis 3630, Ive found that trying to understand the manual is a real process within itself.
Ive been knob dicking with it for about 1yr now,and have found the good and bad in the unit, but to tell you the truth,I still have confusion when it comes time to really understanding, threshold, ratio, attack, release etc.

Understanding Mic Sensitivity Gain Structure
Given: AT4040 has an open circuit sensitivity of -32dB/25.1mV in relation to 1 volt / 1 Pascal.
Amplifying this signal, or raising it +32dB to 0dB produces a 1 volt output.
Question: does this mean the amplifier must provide 32dB of gain to amplify the mic output to near line level?
Understanding this right?
After going back and forth between ideas, I plan on using a M-Audio Delta 44 with a Yamaha MG 12/4 Mixer. I just want to make sure I am figuring the I/O's right.
I would run the main outs of the mixer (TRS) into imputs 1/2 of the 44. I would take the outputs 1/2 of the 44 and run them through a stereo channel (11/12) and then to the monitor outs.

Understanding Latency
So if I'm mixing in Samplitude, and I bus track 1 out of the computer and into an outboard reverb, and out of the reverb back to the track 2 in the computer, track 2 will be out of sink with the rest of the tracks?
What causes this phenomenon? A/D D/A conversion? Does latency also occur with onboard software plugins?
Thanks,
Robert
