Recording upright bass, piano and acoustic guitar
I've been asked by a friend to record him for a college audition. He plays the upright bass, but also needs me to record piano and acoustic guitar.
My question is what microphone would be best for these instruments?
I have a Shure SM57...would that be sufficient? If yes, for which instrument or all of the instruments? If not, what mic would be best?
advice about recording double bass
Hello everyone, I want some advices recording bowed double bass. I am a professional solo doublebassist and an amateur recorder and I want to record some solo double bass with my music. Right now I don't have too much money to invest in a decent microphone like Neumannn but Im looking for a 300 dlls mic which can help me have a decent recording sound of my instrument.

Recording Jazz Trio, Grand Piano, Drums, Upright Bass.
Dear Engineers,
We are trying to record our jazz trio inside a small ..13'x19'x9' room.
looking at everything from the front, it's just like a 13x19 stage and if you are on the audience side looking at the stage, here how we are set up in the room:
Grand Piano on the left , Drums in the center, Upright Bass on the right
Micing an upright bass?
I am going to be recording an upright bass for a rockabilly/ska type band. The bass has a pickup and he plays thru a GK amp and a GK 4X10 cabinet. I don't think I will have a hard time capturing the low end, but I am not sure what I should do to capture that signature rockabilly snap from the strings. . Would simply Micing the strings with a condenser do it or is there a better method?

Recording Upright Bass
After 35 years playing electric bass I got my first (lefty) upright bass a year ago. Still a long way from mastering the beast, but I've done a few recordings recently. Playing jazz and folk. All piz. (I worked on arco for a few months, started receiving death threats from the family.) Anyway, I'd appreciate any recording tips.
