Outboard EQ more functional than UAD/Waves?

Hey guys narrowing down the list here trying to decide if I should get 2 Pres or 1 Pre with EQ. I have UAD Studio Pak and Waves Ren. I've never messed with outboard EQ much, just record flat into the DAW (Nuendo 2). I was wondering if the eq section of a Vintech X73i would yield results that can't be achieved with my sofware.

Waves Ren Reverb...

I have the Waves Gold Bundle and was wondering about settings for Ren Reverb as a Master bus reverb at mixdown. I do mostly Hip-Hop and R&B and looking for something to just fill in the gaps and help everything mesh. I get a good mix before it but have noticed when plugging in the Ren reverb how it adds the that sparkle of ambience and brings a little more cohesiveness to the track.

Renaissance Maxx

I just purchased the Renaissance Maxx bundle last night. Until now, I've just used the pluginsthat came with Pro Tools LE. what a difference! I did notice they tax the ole CPU more. I'm using a 850 MHZ Mac PowerBook with the Digi 002. I know it depends on the project and how many tracks...but I got up to about 6 different effects running...then it started to crap out.

Calculating degree of phase shift bewteen 2 sine waves!

Hi everyone, Im new here (so hopefully Im posting this in the right place/want to apologise in advance if Im not...)
I want to calculate the degree of phase shift between two sine Wavesof the same frequency. I have the following formula (but cant find the right symbols on my keyboard (!)):

degree of phase = time difference * frequency * 360

New UAD and Waves Plugins

Universal Audio has just released a new version of their Powered pluginsfor the UAD-1 card, version 3.4. This new version includes the new Fairchild compressor emulation.

Also, Waves has announced a new convolution reverb plugin at the recent NAMM show that looks pretty sweet. It is pretty pricy however, and will probably be a CPU hog as well.
