I would like to know what would be the best way to decode a blumlein configuration, without using a DAW (i usually don't record on laptop and want to hear the result on location.)

Just curious if anyone has messed around with stereo or surround recording using 3 mic / 4 track "double MS".

I own an MS pair of Sennheisers MKH40 Mid and MKH30 which I use occasionally for recording small choirs and ensembles and also recording foley.

I have a chance to pick up a Schoeps MS (cardiod centre) pair as well and was wondering whether anyone who has been lucky enough to use and compare both could comment on whether the sound is noticeably different?

Im looking in to getting a C414 as I've had some experience w/ them and love them for drum overheads, vox, guitars, etc.

What is the difference in/between all the different models of the C414? I can't seem to figure it out. I have seen

Background: I record organ, orchestra, orch+chorus and small acoustic ensembles (e.g. trios, etc). I currently have KM184 (pr) and Earthworks QTC1 omnis (pr). I am going to purchase one additional pr of SDC mics.

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new stereo pair. A friend of mine has a pair of Earthwork Omnis and I absolutely love them but I'd rather get something else and just borrow his on those projects which I really need that sound.
